More about thesauri (I really mispronounce that word) and related tools

_For German speakers

While reading for last week presentation on Getty Vocabularies I came across with this Dictionary of Artists, that can be used for cross references with Getty thesauri, particularly with the Union List of Artist Names: Allgemeines Künstlerlexikon (World Biographical Dictionary of Artists) is available through the Watson Library online catalog:http://libmma.org/portal/allgemeines-kunstlerlexikon-world-biographical-dictionary-of-artists/

According to the database description: “International Artists Database is the most extensive, up-to-date and authoritative art-history reference database. It contains information on visual artists from all over the world and throughout the ages, from antiquity to the present. The database makes the complete articles from all published volumes of the Allgemeines Künstlerlexikon (AKL) searchable, plus giving access to short biographical information (index data) extracted from articles in the AKL and the well-known reference works Thieme-Becker (A to Z) and Vollmer (A to Z). (…) Also included are now the complete full text articles from the first AKL supplement volume (which covers A to Azzopardi) and updated information on about 27,000 artists contained in the printed volumes of the AKL. These updates, thus far only available in the database, are now displayed as Addenda underneath the original articles. The supplement volume contains new biographical entries based on 133 art encyclopedias and dictionaries published in the last twenty years as well as on current publications and bio-bibliographical information collected by the AKL editorial team. (…) Although the search interface and some of the search terms are available in English, the biographical full-text entries are in German only. Previously published as: International Künstlerdatenbank IKD”
